Illegal Cockling in Wales.
Created as part of a brief exploring visual storytelling and information design, this project blends illustration and environmental communication to spotlight the overlooked issue of illegal cockle fishing in Wales.
Rooted in Welsh coastal heritage, legal cockling—particularly in the Burry Inlet—contributes around £8 million annually to the economy. But illegal practices undercut local gatherers, disrupt regulation, and endanger the sustainability of this centuries-old tradition. Through a guided visual journey, the project explores who is involved, what’s at stake, and why action is needed.
